astronomers determined the WA/NT border
on the ground using radio time signals,
which then, was new technology.

Australia visited the newly completed
obelisk that marks the WA/NT border on
the ground.

1944 survey for the Ord River Main Dam. Dam Site No.1 was eventually
rejected as the preferred site circa 1960, for the No. 2 dam site, where
the Ord River main dam was built between 1968 and 1972 and now holds
back Lake Argyle.
