The Kununurra Historical Society was inaugurated on June 5th 1986, and in 2016 we commemorated 30 years as a Society and 15 years in the ('new' ;^) purpose-built Archive and Museum facility (A short history of KHS). You will be supporting the valuable work being accomplished to collect and preserve the records of our past, and be kept in touch with interesting monthly minutes, illustrated with many images and listing new archives (In 2015 there were 189 new archives added to collections). If you join as a member, and you've sipped or dipped into the Ord, you will be able to come back for a taste, every month, through the, often interesting, KHS 'Illustrated' Minutes. [Download a KHS Membership Application (as PDF) to print and send or use eMail method below]
KHS is offering an annual membership, however we encourage ALL Past & Present Residents of Kununurra, being part of (y)our history, to join as Life Members (equal to 10 x an annual membership) to support the work of the Society, continuously receive updates, avoid messy renewals every year (for us & for you ;^) and as the best value for money.
(I forgot to say in this page's title, "Please!" Join KHS Now ;^)

Your Records of Significance

Whether you are an individual, family, organization or business, and have records of significance to the history of the Ord, please consider their future preservation, in the Kununurra Historical Society purpose built Archive facility. It is of great importance to preserve Kununurra's history, with an ever transient population, the KHS is actively seeking to collect, original or digital photographic collections, and documents, of significance to this history, from past, present and future residents. However small your collection it may be of significance, for example a photograph may give a new angle on something. KHS aims to preserve and welcome the original photographic prints or slides, films, videos, documents or other objects in collections. These donated records can also be digitised to a high standard (at present 5500 pixels on the long side of an image) and returned as fully documented digital images to the donor on a USB memory stick, SD card (or other existing or as yet un-described storage device of the future ;^) - If archival preservation is not wanted, original collections can be digitised and returned to the donor, if required. If you know of records that should be preserved for the future, please  Contact KHS - ALSO see - Your Kununurra History.
