The Kununurra Historical Society was inaugurated on June 5th 1986. KHS is offering an annual membership, however we encourage past residents to join as Life Members (equal to 10 x an annual membership) to continuously receive updates, support the work of the Society, and as the best value for money.
Your Records of Significance Whether
you are an individual, family, organization or business, and have
records of
significance to the history of the Ord,
please consider their future preservation, in the Kununurra
Historical Society purpose built Archive facility.
It is of great importance to preserve Kununurra's history, with an
ever transient
population,
the KHS is actively
seeking to
collect, original
or digital photographic
collections,
and documents, of significance
to this
history,
from past,
present and future residents. However small your collection it may be of significance, for example a photograph may give a new angle on something. KHS aims to preserve and welcome the original photographic prints or slides, films, videos, documents or other objects in collections. These donated records can also be digitised to a high standard
(at present 5500 pixels on the long side of an image) and returned as fully documented digital images to the donor on a USB memory stick or SD card. Original collections can also be digitised and returned to the donor when required. If you know of records that should
be preserved
for the future, please Contact KHS.
